Repentance

There Zero sat, his legs dangling over the edge, tears forming in his eyes. He thought about the night before, where he lost it, and nearly killed someone. He looked into the sky, searching for answers. Why was he like this? Why did someone like him have this...condition? Were the gods above trying to make him repent for a past sin, or make him suffer for this power he had? He felt hot tears streaming down his face, as he thought about what he did.

"Ahhh!" Hasuhana said, stretching her arms above her head, a smile on her face as she wandered around the beach. She liked going there when she could and had decided to visit it again. It was slightly marred by the sight of the A on her hand, which reminded her of her embarrassing encounter the day before, but she pushed that feeling back. She spotted someone sitting on the cliff and was going to let them be until she recognized him as Zero. "Z-Zero-san?" she asked, moving closer.

Zero's tears fell to the ground below like raindrops. He looked back up at the sky, tears running down his face. He looked at his hands. "These are the hands of a murderer." Zero said to himself. He heard Hasuhana's voice, but he didn't turn to face her. He was too ashamed to let her see him.

"Z-Zero-san?" she asked, looking alarmed. She jogged over to him, concern plain on her face. "Z-Zero-san... are you a-alright?" she asked. "W-what do you mean m-murderer?" She was worried and confused. What on earth could he be talking about?

Zero didn't look at her. He rubbed his face to get rid of the tears. "Seishin, you saw what happened at that club. There, I showed my true colors. I was nothing but a monster!" Zero said, his teeth gritted and tears trying to force their way out of his eyes.

Hasuhana shook her head and knelt besides him. "T-that... that wasn't y-you," she said. "And i-if it was... t-that was just one aspect. It w-wasn't your fault that h-happened," she said, looking at him, sadness in her brown eyes.

Zero turned around slowly to face her. "You're...you're right, Seishin. I had no control over what I did. But even so....I should have fought it. Instead, I gave in." Zero said. He looked her in the eyes and saw the sadness in them. "I am sorry for worrying you, Seishin." Zero said again, turning away.

"E-everyone gives in s-sometimes, Zero-san," she said anxiously. "No one is c-completely in control... n-no one." She looked down at the ground, fiddling with the edge of her skirt.

Zero looked back at her. "Once again, you're right. But I put you at risk, Seishin. Thats one thing I can't forgive. If something would have happend to you because of me...." Zero trailed off, not wanting to think about it.

Hasuhana tried to smile. "But n-nothing did happen. J-just because your inner d-demons can take a physical f-form doesn't mean you should b-blame yourself for them." She met his gaze steadily and put a hand on his shoulder. "It wasn't your f-fault."

Zero smiled. It was a sad smile, but a smile all the same. "Thank you, Seishin." Zero said softly, the sadness leaving his voice. Suddenly, he hugged her. Then he pulled away quickly. "Sorry about that." Zero said, blushing a bit.

Hasuhana smiled, but was startled when he suddenly hugged her. She smiled at him as he pulled back. "It's o-ok," she said. "And y-your welcome... j-just don't beat yourself u-up over it," she finished.

Zero nodded. He got up and stretched, a cool breeze blowing. He cleared his eyes of his tears. A renewed vigor was back in his face. His eyes glowed back with their normal happiness. He had an honest smile on his face. "Thanks again, Seishin." Zero said, his voice back to its happy and soft tone.

Hasuhana smiled up at him from where she sat, and got to her feet slowly, stretching her shoulders slightly. "Y-you're welcome... if you ever w-want to talk... I am always w-willing," she said quietly.

"Nah, I don't want to bore you too badly." Zero said, teasing. "But thanks. I know now that I have somebody to turn to if I ever need to talk now." Zero said again, looking at the sky. The wind blew at his jacket, making it flap in the wind.

Hasuhana nodded. "D-don't worry... you won't b-bore me," she said softly. She glanced up at the sky and started to walk off again. "H-have a nice r-rest of the d-day," she called over her shoulder, smiling at him again.
