Darkest of Days

Zero was stumbling through the empty halls, his head pounding. He leaned against the wall, holding the right side of his face, his eye covered. All day this had been happening. He had a nightmare to start it off. But this was like unlike any other nightmare he had before. In his nightmare, he was covered in blood, dead bodies littering the ground. But that wasnt the thing that disturbed Zero the most. It was just the aura he gave off and his eyes. The aura in his dream was crimson red and black, full of malevolence, murderous intent, and hatred. But the eyes of his dream self was what set it over the top. His eyes were filled with nothing but hatred, a lust for bloodshed, and madness. Zero shuddered when he thought about it.

Zero felt a sharp pain ripple throughout his body. All of his muscles contracted and he felt to the floor, holding himself. These pains were coming more and more frequently, each one more devastating and tiring than the last. He got up slowly, his body shaky. He had gone to the nurse, but she said that there was nothing wrong with him. He was sent back to his classes, but Zero had dealt with the pain all day, until now. It was about time to go, and he was released early. He shufled, but was too weak to go any further. He fell against a wall again, holding the right side of his face. Pain seemed to be radiating there. Little did he know, his right eye was slowly changing from Hazel to Crimson Red, true madness starting to show itself.

Zero looked over to Seishin and nodded. The redness was almost gone from his face. He watched as Celest dissapeared. He straightened himself up, trying to look as presentable as he could. "Sorry you had to see..that side of me." Zero said, rubbing the back of his neck.

Hasuhana tried to smile. "I-its alright... as h-humans go... you are m-much nicer then most... sorry to b-be blunt," she said. She started to unconsciously chew on her thumbnail, before stopping herself, grimacing slightly. Then she looked back at Zero. "Are you a-alright though... you s-seem a little... e-embarrassed... but I guess for g-good reason..." she said, blushing slightly.

"Yeah, i'm alright." Zero said. He leaned back on a wall. "As for being nice goes, I don't see any reason to harbor negative emotions. All they do is hinder you and shroud you behind a wall of lies." Zero said. "And don't worry about being blunt. People need to speak their minds or it builds up and stuff happens." Zero said again, stretching. "Though, this concerns me. The incident a couple minutes ago never happened to me before. I've never felt so much hatred and malice in my life. I've got to look into it."

"Um... c-could it have b-been... m-magic...?" she suggested nervously. "Maybe s-some spell or something that c-could um... release any... l-latent emotions... not to s-suggest you n-normally have emotions l-like that," she said, adding the last part quickly, with a slightly flustered attitude. "There m-might be a book with s-something like that in i-it..." she suggested, trailing off.

Zero shook his head. "If it would have been magic, I would have felt it before. No, this is something else entirely. But, I feel like I know it, but I just can't remember..." Zero said, trailing off while tapping his head. Then he remembered. In a scramble he pulled out a book on his family history. He scrolled his finger down a page which he had found interesting and looked at the heading. "There we go!" Zero said. It read, "Dark Hado." Zero started to read it.

"Dark Hado is the darkness in the hado user's heart manifested. It causes the user to go into wild fits of rage, wanting to harm or kill anyone close to them. They don't care if you are innocent or not, the ones afflicted will just want to cause misery and bloodshed. Essentially, the dark hado is the opposite of the user's own personality, if the dark hado spreads too much, this can cause the one afflicted's own soul to turn to darkness, gaining extraordinary power, but losing themselves in the process. This hado can only be counteracted by the Light hado side, but this ability has been lost." It goes on to say about other aflictees, known abilities that are associated with dark hado, and other symptoms of the dark hado.

Hasuhana looked at him curiously as she pulled out a book and started flipping through it. "W-what is it?" she asked, peering over his shoulder to look at where he was pointing. She gasped and looked at Zero anxiously. "Oh no..." she whispered.

Zero closed the book and put it back in his bag. "So...that was my darkness just then..." Zero said. He looked over at her. But instead of sadness in his eyes, there was nothing but resolve. "This won't faze me! I will defeat this darkness inside of me, no matter what!" Zero said.

Hasuhana looked down, biting her lip. "I-it said the light H-hado was l-lost though..." she murmured. Then she shook her head quickly. "S-sorry... I d-don't doubt you'll be f-fine," she said, struggling to smile. She didn't know him that well, but she always felt sadness and despair when other people's lives took a turn for the worse.

"Thank you, Hasuhana." Zero said, smiling. He sat down, leaning up against the wall. Today was tiring. He just found out that he was afflicted with this trait in his genes that would destroy him if he didn't fight back. But he knew he would beat this. He made a promise to himself that he would figure out how to defeat his darkness, no matter what.

Hasuhana looked down at him, chewing on her lower lip, before she sat down. "I-if you want to be alone t-tell me... but I was j-just wondering h-how you were planning on g-getting rid of the dark H-hado... and... and if I c-could help," she said quietly.

"I really truly don't have a plan to get rid of the dark hado." Zero said. "All I plan to do is fight it, make sure my will is unbendable. And if you want to help me, you're more than welcome to." Zero said again, yawning.

"Alright t-then..." she murmured. She looked back over at Zero. "Um... m-maybe you should go h-home or something... you look r-really tired..." she said, tilting her head to one side as she observed his yawns.

Zero rubbed his eyes. He was more exausted than he thought he was. Maybe the darkness drained him a little bit. "Yeah, I should head home." Zero said, standing up. Just as he got up, the bell to leave rang. The kids flooded out of the classrooms, heading wherever.

Hasuhana nodded and stood up, grabbing her bag and quickly checking it for her calculus book, before looking back up at Zero. "O-ok then... I'll s-see you some o-other time," she said quietly, smiling softly, before walking off down the hall, heading towards her next class.
